This project is situated on 6000 s.q. of land at the summit of a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside on one side and the Mediterranean sea on the other. This residence is designed to integrate living spaces within the external landscape. Five building elements are juxtaposed on the site to maximise both the perception of the garden and its relationship to the living spaces.
The building elements illustrate a variety of influences expressed though differences in form, materials and scale, reinforcing the individual place in the garden.
Throughout the complex there is a mixing of the romantic and the modern. The main house is a semi-open plan with core elements. The romantic/modern attitudes are evident in the window treatments. In the first floor private areas, over scaled windows frame views of the outdoors while on the ground floor the large window wall with sliding sections directly expands the space out to the garden and pool terrance.
In the front, the service quarter flanks the entrance from the main road with trees lining the alley extending the sense of landscape beyond the gate and building, reinforcing the idea of buildings in a garden.
